The role of Acute Medicine within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) is fundamentally important – facilitating excellent care of acute medical emergencies with the patient’s needs at front and centre, coordinating with multiple other medical specialities to provide streamlined senior review and avoiding admissions when safe to do so by employing our well-established Acute Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways.

We are looking for talented and aspiring individuals to join our energetic team of 8 Consultants in Acute Medicine currently involved in this important work. We would like to invite dynamic and forward-thinking individuals to apply for this substantive Consultant in Acute Medicine post. It is a fantastic time to join UHP; as part of the first phase of our New Hospital programme, we have plans for a new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre incorporating a purpose built SDEC facility on our current site in the next 2-3 years.

The post will be for a maximum of 10PA. We are happy to fully support dual speciality interests, and up to 2PAs can be allocated to a second speciality interest. We also warmly welcome applicants who wish to work less than full time.

Dedicated sessions to provide Quality Improvement Leadership within Acute Medicine and Clinical Research A period of sabbatical leave after 3 years in post Ability to practice Acute Medicine at Masanga Hospital, Sierra Leone to enrich experience for individuals interested in global medicine – consolidating the excellent links already established between Masanga UK and Peninsula Medical School.
