Kerry University Hospital is currently recruiting two Consultants in General Internal Medicine for exciting opportunities in Ireland.

University Hospital Kerry (UHK) is a dynamic and fast-paced large Model 3 Acute Hospital located in Tralee, County Kerry. As part of the South / South West Hospital Group, UHK is the third largest hospital in the group and maintains close links with the tertiary referral centre at Cork University Hospital.

As a teaching hospital, UHK is affiliated with University College Cork as its main academic partner.

  • Critical Care
  • Coronary Care
  • Maternity
  • Orthopaedics
  • Palliative Care
  • Mental Health

Contract Details

  • Initial 1-year contract
  • Strong possibility of becoming permanent after the initial period
  • Immediate opportunities available

Salary & Benefits

  • Approximate net monthly salary of €10,000 to €13,000 after tax and pension deductions, depending on experience
  • Potential additional income through private patients attending the hospital
  • Typical long-term Consultants may earn up to approximately €320,000 gross per year
  • 31 working days annual leave plus 10 public holidays
  • Up to €12,000 annually reimbursed for continuous medical education, courses or master's degrees
  • Up to €8,000 per year available for innovation projects
  • Lucrative pension scheme worth approximately €1,000/month
  • If leaving Ireland within 2 years, the doctor may reclaim pension contributions as a lump sum (up to approximately €24,000)
  • Otherwise pension benefits apply upon retirement age

Requirements

  • Specialist in General Internal Medicine within the European Union
  • Alternatively, training validated in an EU country with at least 3 years practising in the recognised specialty
  • Excellent written and spoken English (minimum B2-C1 level)
  • Strong motivation to relocate to Ireland this year

Desirable Interests / Experience

Although not essential, an interest in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Acute Medicine
  • Geriatrics

Previous experience in an English-speaking country would also be highly valued, including:
